If the name Sami Galbi rings a bell, it should! The winner of the m4music Demotape Clinic 2024 in the “Pop” category is one of the most exciting voices in contemporary Swiss music. Growing up in the alternative scene of Romandy, the Moroccan-Swiss artist combines traditional Moroccan sounds like Raï and Chaâbi with analog synths and distorted guitars to create danceable music that’s a lot of fun. Influences from West Coast hip-hop and bass music are equally present, adding extra punch to his sound. Mostly sung in Darija (Moroccan Arabic), his songs explore themes of identity, belonging, and life in the diaspora. Yallah Sami!
