LUCA KOCH

Luca Koch (it/they/no pronouns) doesn’t shy away from boundaries. Luca trained and explored its means of artistic expression in the context of a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Voice at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Art Creation (Music & Art Performance) at the same school. Using its voice and body as primary tools, it performs on stages in Switzerland and nearby countries with various projects, from jazz to classical, electro-pop and free improvisation to metal and hip hop. It also learns other singing techniques such as yodelling, throat singing, overtone singing and beatbox. Luca is a Strebi Commemorative Award 2020 laureate and was sponsored by the Swiss Study Foundation during its studies due to special academic achievements. Luca’s work focusses on large stage works and multi-sensual experiences. It thus works not only in the field of music, but also in visual art, dance, theatre and performance art, and increasingly integrates smells, tastes and haptic experiences into its art. Luca Koch has been a lecturer in Jazz and Pop Voice, Songwriting and Sight Reading at the Winterthur Institute for Contemporary Music since February 2022 and strives to offer gender-neutral, holistic singing lessons and artist education. From April 2023, Luca will also be part of the music editorial team at public radio network SRF 2 Kultur.
