HIGHLY SPECIALISED SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AT THE LUCERNE UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES AND ARTS, ZOFINGEN

DANIEL PFÄFFLI

Daniel Pfäffli is a research associate at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) specialising in machine learning for time series and audio data. Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts recognised his Master’s thesis on generating yodelling music with deep learning with the prize for best Master’s thesis in the field of computer science. He works on various Innosuisse-funded research projects at the Algorithmic Business Research Lab (www.abiz.ch) and maintains a close cooperative relationship with the Department of Music on topics related to music and artificial intelligence in general as well as provenance research on yodelling music in particular. In addition to his research work, he is Chief Technology Officer of Jaywalker Digital AG, a data science company specialising in the marketing sector and involved in further development of STUcard, the youth loyalty programme of the cantonal banks. He is married and the father of a one-year-old daughter, and he often spends his free time in the mountains.
