No wonder artists in Switzerland’s independent scene are voicing concerns about the current developments on Instagram & Co.
For years, musicians and venues have experienced what it means to depend on an infrastructure that forces them into time-consuming free content creation and ever-increasing ad spending. Given the immense power these platforms wield over communication and surveillance on a global scale, we have undeniably reached a societal tipping point – one that the music and cultural sector must respond to.
This discussion aims to take the pulse of the scene and explore which strategies are feasible and widely applicable for artists of all generations and other affected groups. We will also examine which fairer platforms and apps could serve as alternatives to Instagram, TikTok & Co. in the future. A space for encouragement and connection – a shared reality and utopia check.
