Sinead O’Brien – alongside bands Black Country, New Road and Black Midi – is part of the vibrant alternative music scene centred around London sound studio and label Speedy Wunderground. Now signed under the English label Chess Club Records, Sinead O’Brien stands for cool post punk and honest spoken word poetry. Raised in Limerick, she studied fashion design in Dublin – music and poetry were only added to her repertoire later. During a stay in Paris, she began to record her everyday observations in poems, later underlaying them with hall-effect guitars and stomp beats. After the release of EP "Drowning in Blessings" in 2020, the debut album of the Irish "punk poet" is set for release in June, and will also feature funk and folk influences.
