Priya Ragu is currently considered one of R&B's most promising artists. She was recently featured on the "BBC Sound of 2022" longlist and hailed as a "Breakthrough Artist for 2022" and "Artist to Watch for 2022" by Amazon Music. The musician, raised in St. Gallen, reinterprets R&B, soul and electropop on her debut mix tape "damnshestamil" and combines her "Ragu wave sound" with sound elements from London, Sri Lanka and South India, such as Kollywood samples from Ramil Nadu in South India, Krishna mantras or traditional tabla. The album "damnshestamil", released in September 2021, is the result of a collaboration with her brother and producer Roshaan Ragu alias Japhna Gold.
