New Jazz – fresh wind and no limits

FREE ENTRANCE

It started in cities like London, L.A. and Berlin. For several years now, new, young artists have been appearing on the scene who no longer think much of categories and familiar genre boundaries. Musicians like Jordan Rakei, IAMDDB, Jorja Smith or Loyle Carner mix jazz with hip-hop, soul, indie or electronic music and breathe fresh life into it. And they are immensely successful at it. In Switzerland, too, artists have long since been caught up in the new jazz wave and have allowed themselves to drift in the genre vortex. An approach that works. So, is it the vanishing boundaries that make jazz so relevant again? That make it accessible to a broad, even younger audience? And if so, does that mean that jazz bands now have to reinvent themselves to be successful? Or is the joy of playing and good music still enough? Experts on the panel will discuss these and similar questions.

This conference will be held in German, with simultaneous translation into French.
