Since YouTube, Spotify and co. became part of our lives, quite a lot has changed. While we used to know that we wanted to listen to that one song from our collection or listen to a specific album, we now hardly ever discover music in a targeted way.
This is because algorithms now have a good idea of what we want to listen to and recommend songs that often truly do reflect our tastes and preferences.
So far, so practical. Although, how does our music taste change when we no longer discover songs on our own initiative? What does it do to our individual music tastes when we take what is served to us on a platter? Do we even have our own taste anymore? Or do we all ultimately listen to the same ten songs on repeat and forget them again as soon as the next one comes on?
These and similar questions will be discussed in the panel. The panel was created in collaboration with "Dezentrum", a think tank focused on digitalisation and society. Tobi Müller, Swiss cultural journalist and author living in Berlin, will moderate the discussion.
