Ecological sustainability

Environmental responsibility is a top priority at m4music. Our goal is to make the festival more ecologically sustainable. Where emissions cannot be avoided, we strive to reduce them. For the remaining CO2 emissions, we take responsibility by making a financial contribution to climate protection. This contribution goes to the M Climate Fund, which supports climate protection projects within the Migros Group and its supply chains. Sustainability is a process, and we are committed to moving step by step toward our goals.

Folgende We are already implementing the following measures:

  • As of 2021, all food offerings (food stands for the audience, catering for staff and artists, aperitifs for partner organizations, etc.) will be exclusively vegetarian or vegan and sourced as much as possible from local suppliers.
  • Beverages are sourced from local suppliers, with most producers based in Switzerland.
  • We ensure strict waste separation with extensive recycling wherever possible - both in public areas and backstage.
  • The booking team focuses on booking Swiss artists as well as international artists who are already on tour, keeping travel distances as short as possible.
  • All conference speakers will be asked to travel by train.
  • Since 2022, we have been measuring our CO2 emissions with the aim of continuously improving the data collection process.

We have set ourselves the following goals

  • The aim is to achieve at least 50% vegan options in the catering range, which is already 100% vegetarian.
  • Although the disposable tableware used to date is made from renewable raw materials and is biodegradable, a reusable solution with a deposit system will be introduced for the next edition in order to conserve resources and reduce waste.
  • We want to continuously improve our data collection on CO2 emissions and introduce concrete measures as a next step.
  • In terms of mobility, surveys will be carried out on how visitors travel to the event so that specific measures can be introduced if necessary.
